It's hard against the aux. battery tray, just a fraction of an inch from busting the battery case. .

It appears the flattened-out side of the yoke was cracked for a while before the whole thing came apart. Considering that I've only had this driveshaft for 8 months, it must have been cracked when I got it. And since I have 3 other vehicles to drive, this one hasn't been used every day.
I found that cap in the dirt where I had shifted out of 4 just before pulling out onto the pavement. All the needles appear to still be in it, along with that plug of grease in the center.
I have no idea where or when the Zerk fell out (assuming it was even installed), but since this failure has nothing to do with grease, it's irrelevant.

This was the final failure - once the other side had opened up & spit out the cap, this side twisted & fractured.

The replacement showed up while I was pushing a tree over in FWD.

This is now the 4th driveshaft JBG has sent me.
UPDATE: It didn't last a year.

It broke AGAIN because the builder didn't grease the 2nd front U-joint.

At least it happened AFTER towing a loaded trailer home, and backing it through the yard.
At this rate, I'll either have to get an all-new one built locally for ~$600 (using Spicer components) or take a chance with another online supplier.
UPDATE: Later today, I ordered a new shaft from Tom Woods. Then, I broke my leg.
