my 2001 Excursion V10 Limited 4X4 with just under 83,000 miles on it has been very faithful since new, I loaned it to a friend and he cooked the transmission in it, he had it replaced at a little shop in a small town in Southern Oregon, when I got it back, it seems to be possessed, the radio will ONLY play if the vehicle is in Park or Neutral, not in reverse or any forward gear, the speedometer jumps around when I press the rear defogger switch, If I am in line at the gasoline station or anywhere that I place the vehicle into Park, and leave the engine running, the starter will randomly engage, and when I turn the key off and remove it from the vehicle, the fan for the heating and air conditioning keeps running until I turn the switch to the OFF position. I am suspicious of the ECU simply because so many things are affected, these things all started at the same time after my truck was returned to me. Any help appreciated. (If I were to replace the ECU, is there a special procedure to doing it ? or can I simply swap it out \\"plug and play\\") |
