Hi all, I am a newbie here and would appreciate any input you all have.

I just purchased an 85 Bronco with 302 Fuel Injection. Decided to do a tune up with plugs/wires/cap/rotor. Well, the parts store gave me spark plugs for an 85 Bronco, but they are too short, and the thread is larger. The old plug that came out is an Autolite 2545, which is about a 1/2 inch longer and a hair larger diameter. I cross referenced the Autolite 2545 on the Internet it is used in almost all the Ford Cars (Mustang, LTD, Crown Vic) from 1986 to newer.
I spoke with the previous owner and he said the vehicle is ALL ORIGINAL, nothing had been swapped...

My question is... is it possible that Ford put a 1986 Mustang engine in my Bronco or maybe just the heads from a 86 model. My Bronco's manufactured date is May 1985.

How do I tell what type of heads I have? Is there a casting number or an ID plate somewhere?

Thanks,
Chuck

That's odd. You may have the first '86 Bronco ever made or someone has swapped the engine on you...those are the only things I could think of. Ford didn't put Fuel Injection in Broncos until 1986. Other than that, the person you bought it from was mistaken.

As for the heads...if there's nothing on them they are just the basic factory heads that came on a Bronco.

I don't know if I have helped at all, but best of luck to ya.

Stick to your guns. 1985 was actually the first year of EFI production. It would be late 85 but 85 non the less. My 86 has an 8/85 build date on it.

Don't know where you got your parts, but I'd take the stuff back and try another.

Did his ask you if it was the Big or little Bronco? I usually just exit the building when I get asked that.

I also own a 1985 fuel injected Bronco. Lots of odd stuff. I didn't have any problem with getting the right plugs for it. Just make sure they know its for a fuel injected 302 and not a 351 or a carbed 302. Good luck.
