My Bronco is an 1981 4x4, 302 small block and a C6 transmission. About 3 weeks ago, while backing up, it jerked 6 or 7 times. When I tried to check it out, it wouldn't move in any gear. After a few hours and going thru the gears several times, it finally inched forward. I had to be extra gentle or it would slip real bad. (It's had a tiny leak for quite some time, but always shifted perfectly.) After a few days of slowly getting better, I could finally drive it almost normally.
When I got home from work Wednesday, I saw that the leak had suddenly gotten bad. I replaced the fluid but when I drove it most of it leaked out before I got to my destination. (1 mile away). I replaced the fluid again, and barely made it back home before it stopped shifting completely. Today I got in there to see if I could find the problem, but everything looked fine. No signs of burnt fluid, no metal shavings or anything noticeable. I changed the screen, but it didn't really need it. What happened? Where do I start?
