When I leave a stop sign (or from a complete stop) under normal acceleration I hear and feel a clunk. It sounds like it is coming from the rear end, but I don't know. If I idle away from the stop for about 5 - 10 feet, then accelerate VERY slowly the clunk won't happen, but under normal or hard acceleration it is there. Has anyone else had this problem? I am going to take it to my transmission guy, but I just wanted to ask.

i would like to know more info on the truck,(4x4,mileage,when did it start)sounds to me like its driveline wind-up which happens a lot to trucks ,especialy 4x4s after a while.this is a weakening in the rear springs.sometimes they can be shimmed, sometimes they need to be replaced.if you would like to call me at the shop i will email my phone# and see if i can help

Sounds like a ujoint or the slip yoke in the driveshaft to me. If either of these are bad, you'll have a little "play" in the drivetrain so when you first take off quickly, you'll hear a "clunk" sound.

The tranny guy will get things squared away for you. Let us know what it was when you find out!
