Has anyone had problems with the V-10? I am looking at another with 100,000 miles. Any thoughts would be appreciated. TIA

Kevin, no problems here. Only 56K miles though. High mileage isn't the problem it once was. Especially if they are mostly highway miles. Easy on everything. I would get a Carfax and have a mechanic check it over. You might want to drive a few other used vehicles with different mileage and see how it compares to them. Good luck.

Kevin, I bought mine with 85K, it now has 96K and so far no problems. I was told by MANY people that thye V-10 is bullet proof. As long as you take care of it. I was told that it was built for many miles, after all it is the motor that is being put in many of the gas motorhomes. I certainly hope that this is all true, as I plan to have another 100k on it before I think about something different (another one).

65K in 3 years plus a little. Runs flawless. Change trans fluid every 30K. Run Mobil 1 every 6-7K, add 1 quart per interval around 4 -5K

I now have a little over 112k on mine with no problems so far. Just keep up with the maintenance and you are good to go.

I have 65k on mine. At 52k the tranny blew up. Almost all of the door locks have gone out, the heating element in the driver side seat does not work, and the passenger side window motor is on it's last leg. Other than that though, I have not had any problems!

None of the above sound like a V10 problem

Kevin,
I would consider your comment half correct. I have not had any problems directly related to the engine but if you read the topic heading it is a question about high mileage excursions. If I was looking into buying one I would like to know of all potential problems that I could encounter even if they are not directly related to the engine. It still costs money to fix them. I was trying to share my experience with my 2001 v-10 limited. I'm glad that I could amuse you with all my misfortunes. Unfortunately I do not find it very as you do.

Nope... I didn't pay much attention to the heading, just the above. I thought he was asking about problems with the V-10. My bad. And it's NOT your problems I find amusing. Perhaps I chose the wrong emoticon.

I'd thought I'd pipe in on this one. I have 181k on a 2000 V10 limited 4X4 EX. I bought it new and have not had a single issue with the engine or trans. Not so much as a check engine light. I am very impressed with this truck. I have done the hubs twice, ball joints, and shocks. Lots of brakes and tires. Had some play in the rear gears that was also fixed. I change the dino oil every 5k and it had new plugs at 100k. I haul either a two car trailer or one car trailer 90% of the time. I get 10-12 towing and 14.5 empty. Great truck. I would not be afraid to buy one with higher miles.
