While looking under my dash near the steering column where the beige plastic meets the black plastic shield I noticed a plug that I am curious about. It is about 1" x 3/8" or so. It appears that something plugs into it. Like on the back of a computer sort of. I can't describe it real well. Any thoughts?

Probably the port for the diagnostic computer connection. In relation to the steering column, where is it?

That would make sense.

JB, do you really like yours that much? I have heard great things about them when used on diesels, but I wonder how much of a difference they make on a V10.

Thanks to all for the replies. What a great site!

With the diesel the Superchips makes SUCH a change that you want to go shake Ford by the throat for not doing it themselves

I'm far from an expert on anything than the one I have, but I understand on the V-10 there are benefits, but not nearly as much as on the Powerstrokes... I guess the powerstrokes are much futher off their "optimal" settings than the v-10's ???

I finally broke down and had my Hellwig rear sway bar installed this morning (have had it since before Christmas and never found the opportunity to bring it to someone, much less put it on myself)

And they said they felt the same way about the V-10 and the chips, etc...

OBTW - If you're in the DFW area, I'd recommend this shop

(Can I post the name or do I need to ask for a pm to let people know?)

Great service, friendly people and, from all my research, great prices...
($45 to install the rear sway bar on my psd X!)
They also recommended (and installed) PIAA 9007 replacement bulbs for my headlights... they say near HID bright for $69 installed... but they didn't have a direct replacement for my fog light bulbs... will have to wait on that... had to leave the place before I spent WAY too much money on all the other toys they had there!

My vote goes for the trailer brake controller. I had one put in when my X had about 700 miles on it, and the plug was about 1" X 3/8", approximately. I believe the computer diagnostic port is a bit larger.
