Ford has issued a customer satisfaction program (03B03) for 2002 and 2003 SuperDuty And Excursion vehicles equipped with 7.3L diesel engines. The bulletin calls for the replacement of the adjustable accelerator pedal sensor.

The service will be in effect until 31 March 2004, regardless of vehicle mileage.

The vehicles involved were made at the Kentucky Truck Plant from JOB1 through 17 October 2002 and at the Cuautitlan Assembly Plant from JOB1 through 21 December 2001.

Should the sensor fail, the driver may experience an intermittent loss of acceleration, or the ability to increase engine RPM past idle when depressing the accelerator pedal.

Eric, do you know if is this a replace before fail type of offer, or is it a replace for free disregarding warranty after failure?
I'll still be in warranty for a long time, but will take it in if they are replacing before failure with a new design pedal assy.
Just had it in to the dealer yesterday too.

Thanks!

This happened to me and the wife. Safety issue. We posted the situation on the old forum.

Anyway called Ford and they took it in right away. Had overnight. Hasn't happened since. it was a scary situation being on a 4 laner and loose power/acceleration.

Gary,

Any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) are handled if the problem is apparent or not on a vehicle when brought into the dealership. If the TSB hasn't been performed before, they'll take care of it no questions asked.
