That doesn't sound quite right Andre. It must get pretty cold up there. I have a 6.8L V10 and I avg 11.2 mpg on a bad day. |

When I had my V-10 I was averaging 11MPG. However, my 1985 Bronco with 302 FI gets about 9 average so maybe you're just off a little. Perhaps a tune-up will help. Also, any changes may have affected it...such as larger tires without changing the gears...different tranny than stock, etc.
Also, yes winterized gas will affect it too. Not sure about there but I've seen lots of places run an ethylated gas during the winter to help with emissions since so many cars are idled in the mornings.
Good luck!

I seem to be getting less than the rest of you, don't know why. Computer reads 8-10 mpg around town , and I don't think I have ever gotten better than 13 on the highway . Towing a 6000lb camper yields a wopping 7-8 mpg's. I have an 01 4x4 Limited, Michelin tires running 60 pounds, and K&N drop in filter. I was just on the fence of selling this beast to pick up an Expedition with a V-8 for better fuel economy and a nicer (less truck like) ride, but it was cost prohibitive. Not sure how much better mpg's an Expedition will get me either, so I will stick with the size and V-10 of the X for now.

I just got my X several weeks ago, but the wife drove an Expedition for several years before I "made" her trade. In any case, the mileage on the Exped(5.4L) was a little better, mid to high teens on hwy trips but I never saw 20. It typically got around 15 including "rural" city driving. When I pulled my TT ('00 29' Wilderness), I'd get under 10. 7-8 with the A/C on
I have found that regularly resetting the "mileage computer" and keeping the RPM's under 2K have shown an increase in mpg observed digitally. Still checking the accuracy of it though...
BTW, my (wife's) Exped is for sale if your interested. It's a '97 though and getting ready to turn 100K. Couldn't resist the plug.
