Bought a 2000 X, it has a key pad on the driver door but i dont have the 5 digit code to get in.
On my 2003 Screw the 5 digit code is on a sticker on a black box under the dash on the fire wall.
I cant find the one on the X , some have said its under the dash, in the back by the jack, no luck so far. Stealership wants $40 .
Thanks.....Mark Keller |

Have a 2000 X and the same problem. Dealer said it was on the box under the dash and was a pain to get to. I asked one dealer to retrieve it with the computer he said 50 bucks, BS I said I think not.
The ford mechanic said if you loose power for an extended period of time the user code will vanish leaving only the factory code active.
I went to another dealer to get an oil change and told them; "I left my lights on while a was out of town (a few days) and now my keypad dosen't work". He said no problem and not only told me what the factoey code was but programmed in my new code. for free It was under warranty at the time so I don't know if this was a consideration but the first place knew this also.
For the price these vehicles cost and the money they make, it isn't unreasonable to expect a little coustermer service on such a small non time consuming issue. Don't hesitate to raise hell with them they should buckle in and help you. |
