With the intent of gathering some constructive feedback, imagine this:

you discover you are a long lost heir to the Ford fortune and are placed in charge of the Excursion design and production. This includes the engine and drivetrain. What would you change? Where are the faults that need fixin'? You have to keep it at a similar price point so dont go nuts...

I offer this thread for fun and information, so hopefully all will take it in the right spirit. I am now searching for a used PSD "X". I joined this forum just days ago and find it VERY helpful!

thanks
Bill

I'll start.
How about a two door version with a Cummins I6 with a 6 speed tranny.

And for sure some real cup holders.

If I could change anything on the productivety of any ford trucks it would be the brakes. I am a long time ford owner and every ford truck I have ever had has horable brakes. The Super Duty and my Excursion rotors had to be replace in no time at all. I know that when I buy a new truck just to go ahead and get ready to replace the rotors. I thought it may just be me but it seems to be every one I talk with that owns a Super Duty vehicle. All and all thats all I would change to the design.

William,

I would improve the brakes - less pedal travel/less spongy and stop better. I would tune out all of the hummmming and shaking at various speeds. I would improve the exhaust - especially the header pipes to get rid of the restrictions. I would work to improve the fuel economy (V-10).

I would add air conditioned seats (like the Navigator has). That's it!

Suspension! At least offer a HD spring package and/or redesign so the front suspension could actually travel!!!

Add the memory options like others. You know, key fob #1 activates Memory #1 and it should include the mirrors along with the seat and peddles.

Somehow cover the 2nd seat slides so kids don't get grease on thei feet climbing in, thus grease on the carpet.

Add a subwoofer!!

Increase the size of the arm rests!

That enough?

Yes, the brakes could use some improvement. 8,000+ pounds can be hard on brakes and rotors though!

wow. There are a lot of options that are flying around right now! Its great!

Actually, I think ford should offer a FX4 package for the excursion. skid plates, heavier springs... an off road performance package! Give the consumer a package to throw in chevy's Z71's face!

hahaha..thats all in fun though...what are your thoughts?

have fun,
dx

Third row headrests!

Actually, headrests for all seating positions. Plus shoulder belts!

Standard rear cargo door bins.

More interior storage cubbies.

Move the spare tire to underneath.

Put a 45 gallons saddle tank on it.

Add 3" more suspension travel.

Uprated springs. Coils up front.

Better shocks!

Move the second row back 4 inches.

Same with the third row.

Optional ZF-6 manual.

Front seat console that extends all the way to the dash.

17" wheels with 13.5 inch rotors.

Redesign the roof rack.

5K standard price drop BEFORE ficticious rebates.

Improved door lock actuators.

"A techie feature." Standard ABS controlled 4-wheel traction control system.

2 screen DVD player option.

PSD as standard. Gas as credit option.

A real Off-Road package (as stated above).

*whew* That's all I can think of right now...
