Hey Bustn, welcome to the site.

Finding out what gears you have is pretty easy. Next time you are on the highway doing 70 mph look at your rpm gauge. If you are running almost exactly 2000 rpm you have 3.73 gears. Anything higher ( I'm not sure of the exact rpm) will indicate 4.30 gears. The rear ratio is also indicated on your door jam sticker, but I'm not sure how to read it.

As for the door code, you will have to go to a Ford dealer for that. They hook up a special tool that reads the factory code. Once you have the factory code, follow the instructions in your owners manual for reprogramming. AFAIK, this is the only way to get the factory code. My dealer did this for free. I've heard that most want to charge for doing this procedure.

You can also find the gear ratio on the tag on you rear end and it will also tell you if you have a limited slip or not.

Sometimes you will find the door code written on the computer. Sombody else will have to chime in here because I really don`t know where it`s at. I heard it`s behine one of the kick panels.

I don't have my door code either; but in doing some research, it's supposed to be on a sticker on the ECU which is located under the driver's side kick panel. I found this info in January, and it's been too cold to take it apart to find it. I'll do that soon as it's warming up!

I was running about 2500 RPM's at 70, does that fall within the 3.73 ration or lower?

SWEET! Does Ford gearing have to match front and rear like on a Jeep?
