I haven't had much time to post lately. Yes, I'm still here, the weather has forced me back to the wealth of information found on these boards. My Ex air does not get cold, 60 degrees at max ac. I already checked the blend door, it's ok. The heater control valve works too(stops water flow to heater core). I don't like it being open in the vent position but it does close in max ac. Is there some other mod I can do? I remember something about insulating the lines to the rear ac but does this help? I am taking it to a shop tomorrow and having the refrig. charge checked. My manual says the center outlet should be putting out temps at 36-46 degrees in ambient 80 degree weather. It's been 100 degrees the last 2 days only 80 today but it is supposed to get hot again. Any advice? Jerry

No advice, but I wish you luck. I don't know how cold my a/c gets, but it does alright. So far so good.

Mine did fine last summer during the 100°+ temps here in the Dallas area. My guess you either are in need of a re-charge or you have a stuck pressure switch (or worse ). In any event, I'm sure the technician will be able to figure it out.

I would definately try and insulate both AC lines running to the back of the truck. I have insulated mine and it does make a world of difference. As you may already know there is only one compressor and both fan units run of one set of lines coming out of the compressor. I even insulated the lines inside of the engine compartment. I live in West Texas, it gets very hot here, and it made a noticeable difference in the front and rear temps, I think most of all in the rear unit. My truck is 2000 4x4 Limited and the lines were only wrapped with maybe 1/8" foam with flex loom attached. I went back with Armor flex, I think in 5/8"ID which you can buy at just about any Lowe's/HomeDepot etc..... |

That's actually a fantastic idea, Rick. I may just try that.

Yeah there is an insulation upgrade you can do...in fact htere used to be a step by step procedure on here somewhere. It was a write up by a guy that used to go by "CHPMustang"...he had pictures and exactly what to buy at Home depot....I can't find it. Wish there was a search feature on here, or if there is I wish I knew how to use it. It was a good one and would help with exaclty what you need. |

I added two 12oz cans of 134a, it seems to be working better now.
Thanks for the support..
