Just finished with the Zoo-dad mod. This was the easiest mod I've tried. Now I'm thinking of painting the grey grill inserts. Anyone else tried this? Looks like all three sections pop out for easy access. I hate that grey color and am thinking of trying black. What do ya'll think? |

Should look real nice offset like that! I'm doin' the same with the sides of my Super Duty grill. Looks like big ole twin intake scoops like that...

Hey Monsta, I like that idea. It may look like twin scoops especially if I use a different color on the center piece. I may have to experiment. Thanks. Milkbone.....Welcome!!!! The Zoo-dad mod is a home-made cool air intake mod named after some guy over at thedieselstop.com. You remove the grill and bore/drill three 2 1/2 inch holes in the fiber glass beside the radiator on the intake/drivers side. There is a How-to article with pictures but I don't remember where I found it. Anybody know where this is? |

Is this a mod for Diesels??? If you have put it on a V-10, what if anything did it do for horsepower? torque? gas mileage? anything else? I don't want to sound ignorant, but I am curious as to the benefits I would get by doing this to my truck? Thanks. |

No, it is not just for diesels. I did it awhile ago. But I only put a 3" hole (1) and took the old snorkel off the old air box and mounted it inside to funnel the air directly to the Airaid intake that I now use.
I seriously doubt that there is any real HP/TRQ gain. It certainly is not Ram-air but it is easy to do, makes you feel better by knowing some cooler air is getting in there and is fun to show your buddies.
I do think that if that is the only mod done, then some (read:small) HP benefits could be derived at a very high (read:useless 'cause you rarely go there)RPM.
I did it becuase I had a hole saw in my garage...

HAHAHA...Monsta...I've got a holesaw, a sawzall, a drill, a nailgun, etc, etc, seems like I could do a lot of damage if I used that reasoning as often as things pop into my head. Thanks for the info!!!!! |
