I have a Mac Products Air Induction system for my 02 7.3L PSD. I haven't installed it yet. The only comment I've found about it what a Dieselstop member who had to retighten his clamps weekly. Are there any knowledgable members here who will offer me some thoughts pro or con?

Can you post a link to this air induction system?

I've been considering the AFE stage 2 system. Bold claims on that one. Interested in checking out other products, too.

They don't claim as much (only 23bph). You can get some details here:

It looks like the AFE system is twice the money? The MAC unit doesn't replace the battery box. Only the air box.

AFE also has just an intake/filter replacement kit...like the MAC unit, less increase in power.

Unfortunately I have no experience with either of the two and am reluctant to buy one. Hopefully someone else can chime in who owns one of them.

I have the Mac cold air kit on my V10. I love it. I got a extra 1 1/2 mpg out of it and a quicker throttle responce. I think you will happy with it with the stroker. Keep us updated on your thoughts when installed.

I ran the MAC unit for about a month. I was using a SCMT at the same time. I didn't notice any increase in MPG or power (the SCMT may have max'ed out the HP, MPG and throttle response). With the Turbo there is a noticeable increase in noises in the cabin. You can really hear the turbo whine and wastegate whooshing sounds. Guys (or gals) looking for the "sound of power" would probably love it! Just wasn't my style.

I'd be willing to take $125 if someone wants one (I paid $199). I'll ship it within the 48 lower states for that price. Outside that area we'd have to talk.

A while back I was going to make changes to the air intake and I decided not to. The reason being is in most cases the PSD gets all the air it needs from the stock filter. The only changes noticed was from the amount of noise the turbo made. I'm sure after market dealers will tell you there are benefits, but I person don't think it's worth it...my humble opinion

However and gas engine is a different story...

There are numerous intakes on the market right now, and I guess thats a good thing for competition and prices. There's the Ford AIS, the AFE Stage 1 and Stage 2, the K&N, Mac, Tymar, etc, etc. From all the reading I've done, it sounds like the Ford AIS is the best in filtration. The drawback is that the element is not reusable. Granted, they are supposed to last quite a while before a changing is even necessary, the elements still need to be replaced and they go for about $70 a piece. The AFE Proguard 7 is suposed to flow the best, but many are concerned that if it flows the best, then it must allow more dirt to pass. I don't know of anyone has any Blackstone lab results to back that up. Then there's the K & N, which flows good (but not as good as the AFE Proguard 7 or the AIS), and filters better than the stock paper. Theres also the Tymar, Mac and home-brewed kits, but I have no experience or read enough about these kits to give an opinion on. I've been talking to a guy who bought this kit http://www.procarparts.com/store-detail.asp?sku=FD99F2%2D6480AIX&dbname=onlinestoreDB and he stated that it filters pretty well. The element is reusable too. He had a couple Blackstone tests done and they said that the filter is doing its job just fine...Sooo, even though I'd like to get an AIS or Proguard 7, this might be the best cost to performance setup for me...
