Can anyone help me here... we've got a 2004 Ex PSD and want to tow a 2004 Airstream 28 ft Safari slideout. I'm concerned about tongue weight and would appreciate feedback on whether this is a capable pairing. I'm happy to buy the Hensley Arrow if it will make a difference here.
Advice, please?
Thanks, Tom
Specs on 2004 Airstream 28 ft Safari slide:
UBW: 6680
GVWR: 9100
Hitch weight: 1250

Take it the trailer shop and make sure you are setup right. That thing should pull that with little problems

Hello. Congrats on a nice setup! I am not EXACTLY sure about the Airstream, but I tow 2 different travel trailers all the time with my 2004 Excursion 6.0 PSD with absolutely NO problems. My first trailer is a 25 Aero-Lite (4000 pounds). It feels like I am towing a jet-ski behind that Powerstroke. I use no sag bars or anything. The tongue weight on that railer is maybe 220 pounds. My other trailer is a 32 foot Montana with slide out. This is a HUGE trailer that is almost 11 feet tall, and weighs nearly 9000 pounds. The tongue is pretty heavy... maybe 350 pounds? Or more? Regardless, if you use sag bars, you will NOT sag in the rear. So, it will help your tongue weight. I know that your Airstream shouldnt exceed the tongue weight of your Excursion. So, you shouldnt have any worries. I say this because I thought nothing would move this HUGE trailer I have, but the PSD Excursion tows it right along the highway at 75 with no problems. Just install those sag bars.
Good luck!

hello all. Anyways, i wanted to give you a bit of my input if you care to know.
I tow a 31 foot keystone with a super slide. Unladened weight is 9,000 lbs. I drive an '02 7.3, with the x loaded up in the back, and the trailer loaded full of fluids and food, I drive 12% grades at 65 mph at no problem. Pass em chevy's all day long. BTW, my x is stock.
Have fun man,

To pull our 32 foot toy box we had to install air bags, and an ove
rdrive from gear vendors (gearvendors.com). We have no problems now
