To answer your question, Vince, I installed a BullyDog flip chip in my '99 F250SD and realized >2MPG improvement, which I though was pretty good. I hear of others seeing even better than that with other various setups.

6 MPG sounds too good to be true, but maybe on the newer 6.0s? Definitely not happening on the 7.3 with JUST chip. Just make sure to calculate manually vs. using the overhead trip 'puter.

Enjoy The Power!!!

i agree...it does sound a little too good to be true. i based my purchase on 2 mpg being worth the money and that seems to be reasonable based on what i'm finding. i found the tuner for 350 at hopupracing.com. (seems to be 50 less than most every other place)

the power will be nice..... for my wife.

mine's an xls model...no computer. love the ole cell phone calc to find the mpg

PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL A CHIP if you have a 6.0 Diesel. I have spoken to COUNTLESS dealers, mechanics, and diesel professionals and have learned that the 6.0 is ideally tuned for great power outpit. If you chip it, you WILL experience engine malfunctions. I had a buddy that had to PURCHASE (out of his own POCKET) a new 6.0 engine to replace the engine that blew because of a chip. The engine had only 1,800 miles! The 7.3 liter is a big engine that is mildly tuned from the factory so it can afford to be tuned. But, the 6.0 is already tuned. DO NOT add stress to the 6.0 by chipping it. It WILL malfunction eventually... either the engine, transmission, or both. Just thought you'd like to know. I have done my homework, and have 100% ruled out a chip for my 6.0.

J-Douglas,
You not the first person I've heard that warns against chipping a 6.0L. I'm with you on this one...The 7.3L is de-tuned and has alot of unrealized power. The 6.0L has had about 30 changes from the 03 to the 04 year just to increase reliability and other things...

Changes for 2003 to 2004

1 EGRTP (EGR Throttle Plate)
2 High pressure oil rails - Increased volume and delivery system
3 EGR cooler - Redesigned
4 EGR cooler exhaust connection -Redesigned
5 Injectors - Redesigned
6 ICP sensor - (MSG) and relocated near the oil fill tube.
7 Camshaft - Duration, and lift
8 Pistons - modified
9 Glow plugs - 1.2 mm shorter
10 Water pump - increased impeller diameter
11 FICM - Upgraded
12 FICM brackets - multiple pieces and larger isolators
13 GPCM bracket - modified
14 Intake manifold - Modified
15 Crankcase breather - Moved
16 Crankcase breather hose
17 Compressor inlet hose - Because of new breather
18 Turbo - 3 additional fins/270 thrust bearing.
19 Turbo mounting backet
20 Stand pipes - Because of new high pressure oil rails
21 Branch tube - goes with stand pipe
22 Rexroth pump - More pressure
23 Glow plug wiring harness
24 2004 MY emissions labels
25 Cylinder head - External boss
26 Rocker arm carrier
27 LH valve cover -Because of breather
28 RH valve cover - MSG ICP
29 Engine wire harness
30 LH exhaust manifold - clearance on E-Series

Changes for 2004 to 2005

1 Deleted intake throttle – instead added air flow “directors” inside RH exhaust tube & intake manifold.
2 New air inlet elbow to replace the throttle
3 Replace Rexroth high pressure pump with Shepard pump.
4 Replace Injection Press Relief (IPR) screen with perforated plate style filter – allows finer filtration (150 vs. 200 micron).
5 Water inlet relocated on front cover to accommodate new steering gear
6 New fuel supply and return pipes to accommodate water inlet
position
7 Improved EGR valve, increased flow, required for emissions.
8 Intake Manifold, EGR Distribution
9 Turbo Upgrade for flutter improvement

P.S. The key to getting good MPG is to drive it like a 8000lbs truck not a 2300lbs Civic.

Hmmm.... glad we're still not under EU control.... yet

cuz I got the diablo predator on my 6-oh and have had it for about 10 months and 25K miles without an issue....
except embarrasing a lot of "lessor" vehicles - getting about 2 mpg betta fuelage - and completely changing the character of an already GREAT truck into a better truck....

but that's just my $.000000000002 - to each his own....

2005 6.0L 4x4 Eddie Bauer Ex
2003 6.0L 4x4 Limited Ex - traded in (BooHoo)
