I've come to noticed everytime I pull into a drive thur I've been ask by the drive thur attendant to turn my truck off?!?
It appears the PSD is too noisey and the attendant can not here me place my order. Anybody else have this happen or is it a Canadian thing?

Must be a Canadian thing. I think of it this way.. when I turn off the PSD instead of idling it, I'm getting Better Milage. Prices being what they are, Every little bit helps.

But your right. Perhaps some enterprising person will realize some day that there is a market for drive thru audio improvement devices. The problem works both ways. You can't hear them or they can't hear you or both. Perhaps a system that uses your AM/FM radio in the vehicle would work. At least you could hear them. And what about a key pad to enter the order. Odds are, you might get the right order that way. See, 2 min thinking has produced a couple of posibilities. So the drive thru comunity is not thinking at all. Looks like you will have to turn of that loud PSD next time you want a burger, or was that a salad? Excuse me sir, could you say that again please, after you turn off your truck? thank you.

And with my luck, the cam position sensor would quit right at the window.

It's an American thing, too. I always turn my PSD off (I have the louder, 7.3L). My exhaust also makes mine idle noticeably louder, but I can rarely hear the person on the drive-through speaker. I have the same problem with my Galaxie. Love that lopey idle. Always like when I pull up to the window to get my food and the customers inside look out to see what all the noise is coming from.

I love the McDonald's with the drive-up window where they take your orders. But yes, someone could be a millionaire if they created a drive-through system that worked better. The display screens are a good start, but that still doesn't solve the communication barrier!

Here in PHX AZ my PSD doesn't fit through, so I have no idea about that, but in my buddy's Cummins we always have to shut it off in drive thru's...

Those Cummins are definitely loud. I had a guy in a Cummins pull up right on my bumper at a drive-through and even though I had my truck shut off, I still couldn't hear (nor could they hear me) the person taking my order over the intercom. I kept looking back at the guy but he didn't turn his off for me. There's no way he didn't know that I couldn't hear, I'm sure he pulled up close just to show off how loud his Cummins was!

For the first 15,000 miles I could hear just fine. Then Ford turned off my pilot injection. Now I can't hear squat.
So much for that super quiet diesel engine Ford hyped.
