Anybody else had a problem with killing this bushing? I've my X a year this past week and it's an '00
with almost 90K. I set the ER brake everytime I get out of the thing. Anyhow it acted crazed over the weekend and you couldn't set it at all and it was about 1/2 inch from the dash, the brake light was one, yet the brake wasn't set. Today local brake guy (my dad was a part's man 40 years) says, "Miss Little Bob (yep, Bob is my dad) get your Daddy to call Ford and see if he can locate just a bushing". Anyhow they got the brake down and the light off, so I guess I'll wait and see how much damage Ford is going to be.
Thanks,

Haven't had a problem on my '00 X with 124,000 miles...then again, I can count on one hand the number of times I've used the e-brake on my X. Up here in MN, e-brakes are a no-no in the winter time. They tend to freeze to your brake rotors when it gets icy and cold outside. Guess I'm in the habit of never using it!
Good luck with Ford. Keep us posted as to the cost.

Ford ordered the bushing so I'll post the cost of it and the repair total once it's done. I live on a hill that's probably at a 45 degree angle so I guess I set the brake all the time out of habit. My dad couldn't beleive I even set it at walmart. I guess I've got a case of over kill!

I have 150K on mine now and had the emergency brake foot pedal fail all together. The pulley for the e-Brake cable is a 2 piece stamped design. If you apply too much foot or just overtime the stamping separates and the e-Brake cable ends up splitting the stamped pulley in half. Real crappy design and I believe the same assembly for the Superduties. Only 80 bucks to replace the whole pedal assembly, but almost 2 hours of your time by the time you figure out you need to remove the ECU from the fire wall and play with all of the sensors and cables. Give it a couple years before there is some recall for this poorly designed piece

The bushing was only $2.00, but it doesn't look like the one that's on there. I plan to take back to the brake guy on Monday. I'll let ya'll know if that fixes it. By the way off of the subjest but has diesel skyrocketed else where too? It's $2.15 here now in Central Alabama.

2.159 in western PA. I set a new record for single fill up price: $91. Oh well.
While I understand why they've raised the price (because they can), I can't figure out what their rationalization is. Unless I'm mistaken, diesel costs less to refine than any grade of gasoline, yet the price is the same as premium grade.
I get my fuel at the same station as I have since I bought my X. The price remained unchanged, at 1.599, until July of this year. In 6 weeks it jumped to 2.039. I asked the station manager what happened. He said he kept the price low to get volume sales. Once BP realized that he was selling more diesel than regular gas, BP told him he had to raise the price to what BP mandated. What I didn't know was that they weren't required to purchase diesel from BP (which is why they were able to keep the price low), but they are expected to keep the price structure the same as other stations.
As I said in another thread, I don't like it, but it's the cost of doing business. |

Diesel is currently 3.95 a gal here. More than gas. So IF I fill from the bottom, its 144.25 a tank.
If I didn't have to drive to work, I'd park it. Insurance, fuel, taxes, Bah humbug.!!!
