Well I just purchased a 2002 Limited Excursion and have a question about what tire pressure to run. Tires are Pirelli Scorpion AT’s 265 / 75 – 16 and the psi listed is max load 80psi cold. Should I run at the max pressure and if not what should I be running?

Thanks

Eric

I have our Scorpions at 65 psi, they ride great!

What an improvement over the bombs even better than the BFG TKO's

Manufacturer recommendation is 55front/50rear but that makes the sidewalls just too washy for me.

Thanks Bill,

I have them at 55 right now and they look a little low. I'll try 65 tonight.

They may handle abit better at 65psi to boot

And Welcome to the Ford Excursion forums, check in and post up anytime

Lemme know how the X reacts to 65 psi.

My 305-70R-16-E tires are rated for 65 PSI max, and that's where I keep them. The old Firestones (D rated) were also kept at 65 PSI ... had about 75K miles on them, and they looked like they were good for another 20K. I've had D-rated BFGs on an old F350 crew-cab (weighed "only" 5,000#) that I kept at 65 PSI, and got 97K miles out of the first set. 80 PSI max? I'd be tempted to run 70 or 75 PSI. The Ford PSI recommendations / specification are the minimum pressures.

When the Ford Dealer truck shop installed the Scorps they stated they could not put in more than the manufacturer psi numbers which resulted in a nasty steering wheel wobble I put in 65-70 and the wobble cleared, the Scorpion tire tread edge did not like low tire pressure.

I actually run my 03's BFG's @ about 65 but only because I have the R9000 adjustable shocks set on 1...

B4 the 9000's I used to run @ about 55 to soften the superduty ride in my X
