I am having a very frustrating problem, every so often when i first start mt X it will not stay started (stalls - no idle) i have to keep giving it gas to keep it running. until it gets warm. is there a specific item that controls just the idle? Is there some other thing I should be looking for to fix this?

Any help you can lend would be much appreciated!

Yes. Your idle air control (IAC) valve is sticking. Mine did the exact same thing, but only one time on a 10-degree morning a year ago. If it happens again, I'll replace it.
