Anyone had problems with their power locks? I have a 2000 Limited with 53K miles, so warranty is gone. When I lock the doors, the back passenger doors don't always lock, just sometimes. This happens with both the key fob and door control switch. When I unlock with the FOB, the driver's door and rear hatch will unlock, and sometimes the other doors, but not always. When the key fob fails to unlock the other doors the door control will not finish the job. I have to manually unlock the passenger doors from inside or walk around and use the key on the fron passenger door.
Before I sink 1-2 hours in shop time with Ford, any ideas what the problem could be? I can't imagine that I need new actuators for all the doors.

I had exactly the same problem with my 2000 PSD Limited.
Originally had the problem only on 2 doors.
Took it to the closest Ford dealer for repair.
While in the shop, they called to say that the actuators needed changing. A few hours later, they said that the other actuators needed changing too.
Long story short: Got the Ford rep involved, and got all the actuators changed, but with no labor charge ... $800! Ouch!

Then guess what? One of the doors still didn't work! The dealer said I needed a new latch.

Well, I may be slow, but not totally stupid, so I didn't go back to that dealer for the work. I ordered the latch from another dealer and installed it myself.

Should have gone this route from the beginning. Live and learn.

Well, based on the responses above, I called the Ford parts department and was quoted $44 for one actuator. The parts guy said this part was updated to a new SCU number and the price dropped from a previous $88. Plus he had three on hand. Based on the part change and the on-hand quantity, I figure this is another systemic problem with the X. Labor was estimated at $70 a door. So, next week it goes in. Crap.

Do me a favor and get those part #'s for the "new" actuators. I have one at this point that works when it feels up to the task, which is rarely and I'm tired of reaching over and unlocking Wife's door(she is tired of frezzing too).
Thanks

I have a 2001 X with 34k and three of the four actuators failed and were replaced under warranty. Sounds like a common problem.

I concur with the previous posters, our Exco's actuators are shot as well . When mom tries to "click" the doors open with the remote, it will sometimes go. Usually she just keeps clicking them, and I yell " That's not helllpinng!!!!" I wonder if they changed the design of the actuators, since they got a new part #? Anyone else have any info to share on this????

Sorry, haven't been to Ford to pick up the locks yet. Was going to have Ford do all the work, but figure I can take the door panels off just as easy as one of the mechanics. Just need the time!
