OK, I bought an '05 Excursion, Towing package and all that...how come the Super Duties get the brake controller and we don't.

Which brings up my next question, what brake controller do you use? |

I believe the thinking of Ford is that the Excursion doesn't needed due to it's upcoming exit from the vehicle lineup thus why support it for a 1-2 year production
Many Excursion owners I know of use Tekonsha Prodigy which I'd use based on the positive feedback given for the product

I am sitting on a Jordan for my unit. I have yet to install it since I just got the x two days ago. Go to RV.net for answers to just about any possible towing question you might have.

I bought a Tekonsha Voyager for another truck several years ago (it was the top of the line then) and ended up not installing it. When we bought our RV trailer two years ago, and then bought the Excursion, I had it installed. It's an excellent 'manual' controller, and works well with my tri-axle Airstream 34'.
Last year, I outfitted my Toyota pickup to tow a 17' fiberglass camper. I had a Prodigy computerized controller installed in that, and I've be very happy with it. If I weren't so frugal, I'd buy another and replace the Voyager... not because the Voyager doesn't do an adequate job, I'm just that much more impressed with the Prodigy's response.
Folks on AirstreamForums.com rave about the Jordan as well. It's probably the only controller out there that gives a true linear braking response in proportion to pedal depression. Just remember, regardless of which controller you buy, that you want to set your controller up to apply your trailer brakes just slightly before your Excursion brakes activate.
So, for ease of installation and computerization I guess the Prodigy gets the nod. For linear response and manual control, the Jordan is probably the way to go.

Could be hearsay or rumor, but I have heard that the Tow Command system in the 05 Super Duties is actually produced by Tekonsha and based on the Prodigy. I have heard this on the rv.net forums. I have read enough good things about the Prodigy though to make me buy one (which I did today). The hearsay of Tekonsha producing the Tow Command for Ford SD's was just icing on the cake for me. Has anyone else heard this?
