I was looking to replace my stock muffler so I climbed under the Ex to see if this was a possible do it yourself. To my surprise there was no cat-converter. I bought the Ex through an auto auction and really dont have any history. I was just wandering what would be the downside to just replacing the muffler. 4x4 V-10 2000. Right now I'm getting 15 HWY 12 city. |

12/15 MPG is really good MPG's but replacing the very restrictive stock muffler with one from Flowmaster,Dynomax,Magnaflow, etc shouldn't be a problem at all and will help MPG's and overall performance.
A total system would run you about $400 as when a performance muffler will be $60-$100.
I honestly don't see any downside to replacing just the muffler

Thanks for the info. We don't have smog checks here so I did'nt think it would be a problem. |

Usually with the emission system inspections the catalytic converter is one of those items thats checked off during the visual but hey if your state doesn't require it well then I'm jealous
