Without getting into all the legal issues. In Georgia since my Excursion is over the weight limit for Catalytic Converters I was thinking of taking it out. But, will this screw up my fuel ratio and such?
Has anyone removed their Catalytic Converter? DId it significently help performance? Did you have to do anything to the computer? |

On 5.0L Mustangs I used to build up I typically removed the cat's and put in place a stright H pipe but had the o2 sensor taps so the engine would run correctly but the important thing is don't get stopped with a spot inspection and they find the cat/s gone, could be worth about 30 days of the vehicle at impound
Overall performance on Gasoline Engines will be up due to the restriction has been removed.

I have seen dyno curves and time slips for 6-oh diesels that showed that there was no measureable difference in taking it out....
on these they are a full 3 " or more free flowing cat, so I left mine in when I put on a turbo back exhaust system....
and since it is a federally mandated emission device, I chose to save the $10k potential fine that I may have to pay if I remove mine
YRMV though
Good luck...
