Okay vent time!!!!

I decided to take teh truck back the dealer for the repairs. Again, a bit of history.

Since Feb/March

1 - Trip for thumping - Ball Joints $350+/- (still have thumping)
2 - Complete fluid service & detaile $750+/- (now have the rumble)
After visit number 2 rumbling starts
3 - Ball Joints again / Drag Link / Steering Box Gear Assy / No Charge
All symtoms still previlent
4 - Swaybar end links / rear u-joints / front axle shaft - spindel bearings - ujoints $675.00

So after nearly $1.7K since march I still have the problems one of which didn't exist prior to have the truck serviced.

The hub vacuum leak was that a recent repair?

Just picked it up Friday. After trip 4 (axle shaft, ect.) the rumble started again near home returning from the shop. The vacuum leak was the fix to that fix. We'll see.

Just curious have you owned this Excursion since new or was it a recent purchase?

We bought new in 12/99. all in all it has been a good vehicle. for the most part I beleive the recent issues were more shop induced rather than vehicle quality.

I hate to say this but the rumble returned. We brought the X home from the dealer, pulled it into the garage and thought that was the end of that story. It wasn't / Is not. My wife had loaded up her mom, sisters, and our daughter for an all girls mother day. Not more than 10 miles from home she calls me with the news.

So back to the shop for visit number 6.

At 112,000 miles my 4x4 PSD X is starting to make a few noises.

1. soft "pops" while turning slowing into a driveway approach slightly uphill - I assume this is just worn out body bushings

2. a dampened sounding "jingling" from the front driver's side, noticed mostly at slower speeds while coasting ( engine roar masks it otherwise) - sounds like someone put a few tin bottle caps inside my plastic wheel cover ( I did check for this ..ha)...it seems to stop if I switch over to 4x4 momentarily while the noise is happening...but it comes and goes with any small dip or bump in the road otherwise.....I'm guessing the 4x4 auto hub is going out? If so, should I change to manual hubs? I almost never need 4WD.

3. a new "bump" coming from the front end whenever I hit a dip or hole in the road....no ideas on this one, but I can get under the front and twist the steering bar ( centerlink?) that has a ball joint on each end, and can move it about 1/2" in rotation easily. Someone told me this was normal.

Any suggestions are appreciated before I take it down to Buck's in FTW for them to look at it and hand them my wallet.
