on a 2003 XLT with the 5.4L Gas engine. It has 11,000 miles, 4x4 cloth with no DVD. Exactly what I want aside from the DVD.
We will never tow anything, just haul the kids around town and the family on vacations.
I test drove it with three of us n the car, and when I stepped on it, it went faster than my Caravan does, that's good enough for me.
The dealer is at $25K, I want to be closer to $23K. Checking Kelly, there's a fair ground in the middle somewhere. They're including a 60 day 3000 miles 100% warranty.
What am I missing here? Thanks, as always, in advance.

Mike, don't have any experince with the 5.4L but have heard the mpg struggles with the weight of the X...
but only you can make that call....
If you decide to go for it, be sure to stay on the low side of the price since they will have a difficult time selling the BIG vehicle with the little engine

Mike- I have the 5.4 and hot rodded it with a Gibson Exhaust and KN FIPK system. For about 700.00 you can get about 12.5 around town and darn near 15 on the highway if you baby it. I have 33" tires and a 6 inch lift and those are the numbers I am seeing. Yes, it is a little underpowered but if I want to go fast, thats what the GT500 is going to be for (I want one soooooo bad, and am ready to buy, I wish next summer would hurry up and get here!)

Mike,
The 25k price seems abit on the high side..I would offer 21,500 and go up to your 23k...Don't forget you have the 3 year 36,000 mile from Ford warranty as well..
Keep us informed...

Thanks for all the help guys.
I pulled the trigger, will pick up the 5.4L 2003 XLT tomorrow. I am happy with the price I got, may not like the towing mirrors, we'll see about all the rest.

Ok, since I haven't picked up the vehicle or read the manual, do the towing mirrors go in and out? In other words, can I move them closer to the truck? If so, how?
Ultimately, while I would have liked a diesel, the price just was too much for me to justify for an around-town hauler. I got a really good deal on a 5.4L, so good i can get out from under it easily if I really want the bigger engine. And this inexpensive Ex will allow me, and especially my 5 foot tall wife, to get used to the Big Ex.
By the way, if anyone's in Connecticut, the vanity plate BIG-EX is available. Tempting, very tempting.

Mike,
The tow mirrors do extend about 4-5 inches. They also fold in for car washes, tight spaces, etc. Bottom (blind spot) mirrors manually adjust, top mirrors are powered/heated. Very nice feature in the winter time (the heat, that is).
