Anyone have any?
Anyhting odd I should know about ahead of time?
This is my only ride at this time until I get the alternator back in the car and do not want to be stranded or have to walk to the parts store.

No real secrets just don't try to follow the "instructions" that come with the Hellwig as you'll end up calling it colorful names

From experience do a mock assembly of the Hellwig kit on the bench/ground to be sure all the parts you'll need are there and will fit.
Make sure the Excursion is on absoloute flat pavement, then install the Hellwig.
ErLong did a great write up for the swaybar and shock install, check this LINK

The stock shocks are gas charged which means that there's always sonstant pressure between the two mounting points,in this case I unbolted the lower bolt/s first then removed the top bolts, then the shock drops out.

To install the front shocks I turned the wheel all the way to lock and had plenty of room for installation.

OK, now after reading and looking at he pictures I have a major question.
How do you know the placement of the shock mount once its removed?
My first look thought it was welded on. NOT.
So you just scribe the housing for replacement guides?
Or do they just fall back into place?
Do you have to compress the shock ?

I marked the lower shock mount positions with white crayon but a white or yellow paint stick will work also.
When I installed the 9000's the lower mounts stayed,a short time later the Hellwig went on and the shock basically held the mount in place when I assembled the Hellwig hardware to the mounts, nevertheless they got marked for the just in case.
I have heard in some cases there's position buttons on the axle tubes to where the lower mounts mate to,our Excursion did not.
The 9000 shocks are fluid filled and will require abit of extending to bolt the top and bottom points, turn the dial to #1 for the least effort when extending them prior to install.
