Well, as MUCH as I LOVED my 03 Excursion....
I got rid of it Saturday.... even with all the upgrades, I had to let it go....

the pricing on the new ones was too good !
Got an 05 Eddie Bauer from Prestige in Garland....

Even thought they beat me up on the trade... I still was not upside down...
HORRIBLE that these things lose over 50% of their value after 2 or 3 years - but guess that's the way all cars are now days... did hear something interesting if true...
80% of people that trade are on average $6250 upside down !

Too bad none of you were looking for a great running 03 with upgrades

lower payments and a new one was just too good to pass up
wish me luck with it...

so far -
the change to the bench seat fromt he buckets may work out the bench seems more comfortable since the buckets were not themost comfortable to us...
ride is LIGHT years ahead of what I thought was a nice riding 03 with my Rancho 9000 adjustables, lower tire pressure, etc...
performance is GOOD ! even without a tuner (yet )
probably will get one soon, though - speed is addicting

mpg on the overhead is suprising thus far...
course I'm TRYING to be a good boy and take it easy when i remember since it only had like 9 miles on it before my test drive....

Pulled some things off my 03 before the trade and will be listing them for sale as I rummage thru them....

YEAH - let's do !
will probably be up this week or at least by Saturday to do the paperwork...
it's still not officially mine, but thought I'd drive around on their dime all week

We actually went in to replace my sweetie's car since it is coming off lease in September....
but since she's not getting the Aviator she wanted - I LET her decide on the new X :

after all that work I did on the "old" 03

will give ya a shout when we had up - maybe we can do lunch....

Hope the paperwork goes thru okay and you get to keep the new 05 as they sure are nice

What color did you go after?

Sure we can do lunch I'm sure my fam will want to go out too just be careful not to give the new 05 keys to my wife as she may drive away with it

I'm jealous!! My "vintage" 2000 Excursion just turned 150,000 miles this weekend.

Eric we're you able to obtain the build number for your first year Excursion like it was number 1 Excursion to roll off the line?

How would I find out information on the build number?

I didn't buy it until August of '00, the '01s were just about out. It's old, but not one of the oldest!

Good question,I can ask a friend of mine at Ford as sometimes it'll be on the build sheet as it's just a matter of reading the numbers correctly

I guess that depends on whether you're buying or selling. I bought my '03 Excursion (V8 XLT) in May '05 from an Infiniti dealer, it had 11,000 miles on it. I paid $19,000 UNDER the sticker price that was still in the glovebox.

I think that someone could have leased a Rolls Royce for a year and a half for $19,000, but I'm sure not complaining.

I would never buy a brand new vehicle, there's just too much depreciation driving it off the lot. But then, I don't lease and I don't like loans either.

Eric... as I recall, didn't the very earliest Y2K Ex's had one rear brake in front of the axle and the other behind (or something like that... it was changed mid-year?). That's a good way to figure out how early in production your Ex is. Mine is the later Y2K model.

I have the original sticker for mine, a Limited with most of the options stickered at $47k and change. We bought it used with 45k miles in May of 2003 for $23k. I was sure glad that somebody else ate that $24k in depreciation in two years rather than me!
