$103.50 for today's fill-up to buy 40.765 gallons. Calculated 11.53 MPG for this tank ... all local driving. My previous high-dollar amount was $85.00. I guess what bothers me most is I don't recall the low-fuel light coming on.

I have a policy, never let it get below half a tank.

Sure it's psychological, but two fifty's a week apart doesn't hurt nearly as much as one one hundred.

A friend with two Expeditions taught me that, and he's right.

They just lifted the $75.00 "pay at the pump" limit at the gas station here. My record thus far is $98 but that's been for about 38 gallons. I can't wait to break the $100 mark. I'm going to have to take a picture of that with my cell phone. At 16+ MPG, I know I'm doing better than most gas-powered fullsize trucks, especially since diesel is $0.10 cheaper than 87 octane these days.

Record me is $93 for 41 gallons.... I only drive it past half if I am on a long distance road trip.... Any and all local driving and I top off when I get between 1/3 and 3/4, works better paying $30-40 instead of almost $100 (but I know that is coming the way gas prices keep climbing)

I can appreciate the thinking that paying in smaller chunks "hurts" a little less, but in the long run, you'll buy the same amount overall. I dislike having to stop and refuel because it takes time. It costs me much less time to fill up from near-empty than to make several fuel stops.

Time is too expensive to waste, and while you can earn more and more money, you will never ever get any time back.

I agree. I take full advantage of a 44 gallon tank. The time it takes to fill it I spend checking oil and emptying out garbage from the X. I usually go 1.5 - 2 weeks on a tank.

I just got stuck with a $130 fill up. I love that the credit card cuts off at $50 too. So after two swips at the pump I actually had to go in and give them my card since the pump wouldn't let me slide it again. I love the $3.11/gal diesel!
