Well guys, my nearly two years of ownership has now officiallly drawn to a close, the EX was sold as of Friday. With me driving 35,000 miles a year and gas at $3.50 a gallon it was a no brainer for me. I filled the tank on Tuesday night for a whopping $148.00! I generally filled up about 6 times a month so if you do the math............

I am now going to save over 300.00 per month having bought a more economical Toyota Crew Cab Tacoma.I always loved my wifes 03 4Runner and was impressed even though it's a rice burner. With the V6 and plenty of room for it's size, I think I made a wise decision. With a bed cap, I can still kind of have an SUV with plenty of room and utility. And while I loved the Ex and tinkering with it, 300 bucks a month buys me alot of fishing equipment, etc, which is my true passion.(If the wife can be sold on it, maybe a new Grady White fishing boat) Anyway, thanks to all of you who answered my questions and gave some sound advice, it was very much appreciated.

I do have some accessories that I will let go dirt cheap if anyone is interested

Tan lighted running boards
RanchHand front grille guard
RanchHand rear bumper (The Cowboy model)
Original factory CD and cassette deck

Maybe one day another Ex will again grace the driveway, but in the meantime a big Thank You to all.

Congradulations. Like you, I love the X, but the cost of operation is just too much. I am sure there are several subscribers that wish they could unload their ride like you. Only problem with mine is that I am upside down around 10k. Did you take a bath on yours?

We too have the same problem, 3 kids & alot of local driving. My wife does 200-400 miles a week & the diesel x gets about 15 mpg around town, but we need it for our travel. What we did was to get an 06 vw jetta tdi, it gets 38 mpg around town & 44 plus on the highway. Once broken in(10000 miles) it should get 50 plus according to other tdi owners we have talked to. Unfourtunately I had to trade in the 04 mustang cobra vert for the tdi, but we needed the X more (the wife & kids did), oh well thats economics for ya. I have to say that as much as my wife likes her X, I think she got used to the jetta real quick, the car performs really well & we are only using about 4 - 5 gals of fuel a week.

Gas is killing us too with the 5.4. WIth 5 kids, 3 being in car seats I do not have too much of a choice. A minivan will not cut it. Unless I want to sit on all of the groceries. For us I think it is a matter of training my wife to not gun it, drive a little slower, and watch the traffic and predict it. I keep a clean KN filter, good tire pressure, and change the oil. I do not know what else to do to squeek out any more mileage. The huge towing mirrors probably do not help. Anyway, sorry to hear you had to give it up. It is an awsome ride. Have fun with the Tacoma.

Gotta do what you gotta do.... I just came back from Indianapolis and the gas prices ou there blew my mind, $2.93-$3.05.... I will just park mine and carpool with the wife from time to time as I love it to much to get rid of and when we take family trips there is NO better way to get where we are going

As painful as it is, I may have to park the Bronco, and bring the Grand Am into service. You all just did not read that but it is true. We will have to look at the $$. I know I need to put in an alternator, new shocks in other junk into the Go Kart, and the Bronco goes to work once a week and sits for 4 days. My teen daughter will not be crazy about taking control of the car, but hey, we gave it to her anyway. Easy come, easy go

Like I said previously, I would love to get rid of the X, but like the rest of you guys, with three kids and two dog I don't really see any other option but to keep it. Mileage is much better in bow tie, but its still a bow tie!

I'll also have to say we'll stay with our Excursion thru the rough times as well, after a week of me driving the Excursion the mileage is up which must be due to my foot isn't as heavy as the wife's

We been looking at a smaller diesel but not too seriously.

I took my X on a 600mile trip this weekend and got (according to the trip calculator) 17.7 miles/gal.
I thought that was pretty good compared to my 5.3ltr Tahoe.
Im waiting to get a few months of fill ups to see how it is really doing on millage. I need the Excursion to tow my boat that burns 100g/hr so thats a double wammy. Ouch!
