I have a 01 Ex PSD 4X2 and will be pulling a 11000 lb RV. I talked with Rancho tech and told them I planned to put RS5000's on the front, RS9000X on the rear (they said it's fairly common) a heelwig bar and firestone bags. I'm still on the fence about the radius rod upgrade but I may eventually add that after I get it all installed and tested. I may need to uprate my tires to E as well. The Rancho tech said that the #5 setting on the 9000's is equal to the 5000 stock settings (FYI).

on my 03 Ex I always set my Ranchos on 1 when unloaded... and bounced it up as load dictated...

I'm not going to push the R-Rods on anyone. That's your decision. However, Ford recalled all Excursions with certain Firestone D-rated tires and replaced them with E-rated. There was nothing wrong with the D-rated tires other than Ford should've specified E-rated during the original assembly/build. I wouldn't consider going to E's as an upgrade. I would look at it as mandatory. You may want to contact a dealer with your VIN to see if the appropriate forms were ever mailed to you ... or to some previous owner. You may find you're due a free set of tires if their records indicate someone else owns your VIN. |
