I'm thinking about getting a sptolight on the driver's side for culling into camp after hours...

http://www.unityusa.com/post_mount_spotlight4.htm

I talked to the company the other day, says it's a "door mount" so I woudn't have to drill thru the A pillar, but I'm wondering how well it mounts.

I was leaning towards the rectangular shaped spotlight housing to match the lines of the X, and to not make it so cop car-ish.

I've seen the round ones (same mount) on superduty pickups, but never up close.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience to share?

Thanks

Kevin

You'd have to do a nasty U cut or hole on the upper forward part of the door frame to accomidate the shaft for the drop light then the outer plate screws into the door frame with two screws.

Essentially when you open your door the light goes with it.

Hey Bandit-

Have you looked at and thought about a GoLight (url below)?

http://www.golight.com/solutions/

I bought one of these for my husband, the portable, remote control model that you can slap on most anywhere that has a flat surface. They do have permanent mounts as well. I bought it online from Galls but I have found that Cabellas has it for less and they generally have one in the store so it gives you a chance to go and look at it as well. To me, it does not matter the vehicle you are in, you can take it with you to use it even if you are not in your X. One side comment, it can be the perfect gadget toy since it has a remote, even I like that option!

It is a thought for you and might be worth the look-see.

Many of our FSP trucks use the Golight, especially on the International rigs, they are a good alternative for sure and they're bright

I'm guessing the price of those two mentioned light set up's is quite high. There are lots of light bars out there that will fit and any number/styles of lights to go along. You have a chance to be original. If you really need a mobile light, you might consider a rechargable hand held. That way you can take it out back of the EX when needed. Just my $.02 Or cut your door & have that police car look...
