OK all you experts. As you can tell with my previous posts I have had one hell of an experience with my Ford friends.

So, now comes a question that I ask you experts - should I or Shouldnt I use a superchips power programer for my 05 Ex.

I used one on my supercharged Hummer and it worked great.

I do know that I could have some problems should a problem arise with the truck, but I know I can reflash it to stock parameters. However, there has been so many ECU updates, that who knows where they are at these days.

So should I or Shouldnt I?

Presume you are talking about the diesel ?????
I can't speak to the Superchips SCMT directly except to say that some have been having a difficult time verifying the 100 hp claims of Superchips.... most have reported about 80 HP max - which is good, but not the 150 hp they claim...
Ah, marketing depts, ya gotta love em

My 05 Ex has responded well to the XCal2 after some growing pains finding a dealer that can program it

Hey Drew,

I would say "GO FOR IT" . As you stated in your post, you could always flash back to stock programming if there was a problem before taking it back to the dealer . But, if you plan on running some of the hotter programs with the Superchips, Edge, or whatever, you may want to consider investing in gauges to keep an eye on the egt's, tranny and boost numbers as well as an exhaust to help lower the egt's if you haven't already done so Just my humble .02 worth .

I bought the superchips for my 05 diesel EX. As soon as the off road shop tried to program it, the programmer noted to the dealer that it needed to be sent back for a flash update. It was shipped back to Superchips, came back 10 days later and was installed without any difficulty.

I can tell you I noticed an Immediate difference in the economy mode in how the truck drove. Shifting was smoother and occured at more appropriate times.. It really felt like a different truck.

Last week reflashed to towing mode for our RV trip and it was less than 10 minutes and very easy.

Cant really tell about fuel saving..... Getting 8.5 towing 8000 lbs (better than the 6.5 mpg with my 3/4 ton sub) get about 14 around town and 18 on the highway not towing.

overall I am pleased and would do it again.
BTW, I found the best price on the internet and the local off road place matched it.
