Ok, this is a plea for help. I recently bought a used Lund lighted visor for my X. Since it was used, I did not get any installation instructions with it. I called Lund but they said they didn't have the instructions available separately, and that I would have to buy a NEW Visor just to get the instructions ...Yeah, right...... Like that will happen.... Anyway, since my ethics won't allow me buy one, make copies of the instructions and return it I wondering if anyone has installed one of these specifically on their X. I've had several p/u trucks that I've installed them on and it shouldn't be that different but the mounting brackets that came with it look odd. It's at the shop getting painted as we speak or I would have taken pictures of the mounting brackets... The main idea is to get it centered but, like I said, the side mounting brackets are throwing me for a loop.
Any ideas that I've missed or can someone bail me out?
TIA
Keith

Please post pics when you've finished the install. I've been wanting to put one on my Ex, and want to see how it looks. I don't care for the big cab lights, I like the sleek look of the visor.

I had a Lund visor on my old F350, but the newer (more contoured) ones attach behind the weatherstripping along the top-forward edge of the door opening. This method leaves no bolt heads showing. Could your brackets possibly support that type of installation? I like the Ford lighted visor, but its list price is about $1,200 ... a little too much $$$ for a little satisfaction. |

Well, I wish I could take credit for being so smart as to have actually figured out how to install the visor on my own but........ I broke down and had my body shop guy do it (small town so everybody owes everybody!) Plus, he painted it so it wasn't too hard to ask for help I'll post pics once the X is clean (it snowed yesterday and we're expecting more tonight).
Bottom line, the side brackets do, in fact, screw in behind the weatherstripping on the side. Those were easy to watch being done. The hard part was watching 2 metal plates get screwed into the center of the roof, about 1 1/2 inches up from the windshield rubber stripping. Each plate has 2 screws. The paltes have 2 threaded bolts sticking up that the visor is mounted onto. In hindsight, it makes sense but...
Wiring it up was interesting. I guess I thought that there would be a fuse for the parking lights Couldn't find one. I was also surprised to find separate fuses for the right low beam and left low beam and a third fuse just for the brights. When I checked the fuse for auxillary lights, it was constant hot, even with the lights off. Same for the fog lights fuse. Frustrated, I used a little extra wire and spliced power directly from the parking light wire under the hood. Same end result, just a different route getting there
I gotta admit, it looks great. The wife even loves it so whew, big relief...I'll post pics soon.

Well, finally a clear day and managed to get the X washed up a little. The visor turned out great. I have a little over 200 miles on since and there is little to no additional wind noise. I expected some but I guess the low profile helps. More pics are in my gallery.
BTW, tell me you miss the piles of snow, right Eric (E.Long)? In honor of you, there's a "family" snowman (15 feet tall!) out in the field. You can barely see him in the center of the pic, just down from the top of the hill, out in the field. You won't get snow out there like here in MN...
