The "very" before pictures when I bought it.
The updates.
Now the after picture. I somehow misplace my new digital camera so I didn't take the process pictures but I did find my old digital camera that only has a 3mb smart media card and I forgot the setting was set on supper high quality so I was only able to take a few pictures. the picture came out funny. I don't know if you can see but the grill does have billet inserts.

Very nice! Got me hankerin' to do likewise.
Hmmm ... I wonder if the SuperDuty front-ends will get another facelift in a couple more years? Now THAT would be cool! Emblazen the front of your X with yet-to-be-released '07 or '08 grille-work. Then you'd have an Excursion that appears to have been built AFTER the legacy ended.
So maybe I'll hold off on a facelift. Besides, I'm considering getting rid of my '01 and start looking for an '05 in 2007 (bought my '01 in 2003). |

Very nice job!!! Now I am VERY jealous. What was your total cost? I need to start putting the justification together to get the CFO to agree to fund doing the same to mine.

You know it wasn't easy deciding if I want to do this or not. When I had everything ready I spent enless days and nights racking my brains out, "change it or not". After seening some 05 limited, EB and the XLT's i decided go ahead and quit stressing out over it. A friend of mine and I did the work around 12:00 am to 10.00 am. Ya crazy hours huh... And to think I expected at least 3 hours. At one point I thought we can do it in 2 hours. boy what was I thinking
I think the Super Duty will get an update around the year 07-08 and by looking at the spy pics that are on serveral ford's sites, I'm really not to pleased with the lower bumper look. Something about new goverment mandates.
But we'll see.
I thought about selling my excursion for the 05 Limited but Deep Wedgewood Blue isn'ton the lineup on all the models since what.. 01??? When I do decided to sell it, I'm taking the 05 stuff off. But I'll probably settle with a 04 model and attach the update to it.

Don't be jealous. If anything I should. My dumbself just have to have an Excursion with out really browsing and I over looked the 4x4's v10's and the powerstokes. I'm stuck with a 2wd 5.4L engine. It does ok sometimes but theres times where I wish it had the get up and go power. Towing power is terrible and I reggret it. I used to own an 93 4x4 Jeep Grand Cherrokee and I loved going off road and hunting with it. This 2wd isn't for me.
I pulled out my PC caculator to get a round figure on the parts I have spent and my Log book details on what I spent.I forgot to add the plug-n-play harness for the headlamps on my log. Note that The extra grills, Broken headlamps, a scuff on the bumper extra plug-n-play harness plus extra screw and clips did set me back but is not included on the PC caculator.
Anyway the Grill, grill support and headlamps came from http://www.powerstrokeshop.com and Chris is a great person. I've bought stuff from him and Dale before. The bumper came from a f250 and I bought it from ebay. I had a scuff on the trim of the bumper from shipping and I removed the trim and took it to a local shop to have it repainted and cleared for 175.00. The wiring harness is a plug-n-play and came from http://www.blackclouddiesel.com. http://www.gosperformance.com has an exact same one for a lil cheaper. So without the extra expenses, I spent $1034.54
Thanks everyone

Yeah BUDDY !!!!!!!! that looks GREAT
I really went into possesive mode when I first saw one of those chromed grills like that !!!
but the 05 EB 4x4 we now have has a color matched egg crate and I like that too - so I'm in a holding pattern !
(I ALSO had a 98 Jeep 5.9 limited !!!! - THAT was a hard one to get rid of and wish I had kept it now !!)
with that all wheel drive it was just as surprisingly quick in the mud as on the street !!!

Your truck looks great! (And quite familiar for some reason....'cept it ain't silver )
As for off-roading....go out and get a Wrangler or somethin' and fix it up. Or you can put a 2WD 6" lift kit on yours, get a True-Trac locker out back, spoon on some nice 33's, pop on a Supercharger to that 5.4 and have a REAL head turnin', tire turnin' beast. It'd probably be less than a Wrangler anyway...

Why hold onto the old front end pieces? I'm sure there are a ton of people needing front end repair parts. Save yourself the work of putting it back to original later, and sell the old parts now to recoup some of your expenses. Even the old dented bumper could be used by someone who's willing to bang out the dent, drop some Bondo on it, and paint it. Are you going to put the old mirrors back on, too? I'm not ... already sold 'em on Ebay.
I fully understand the time estimate thing. You can almost bet you'll always have to double your best guesstimate. I feel your anxiety over deciding such things. I've been wanting to install the lighted OEM Ford sun visor for a couple years, but $1200 is a bit steep. If I could do it for $500 or maybe even $600, I probably would. |

In case anyone is interested my brother just took his front and rear bumpers off his 06 F250 king ranch. They have the upper color of the EB and 2 tone Limited. They are for sale. No reasonable offer refused.
