I've had a few folks ask me to provide my opinion on the TC traction bars available from JCW, and how they compare to the radius-rods. This is a delicate issue for me to write about, but I will offer the following:

1) I have owned one set of TC traction bars in the past for a different 4WD vehicle.

2) Instead of saying why one product is better than the other, let me advise those researching the market to look closely at both products ... then think long and hard about what each must do (they're both traction bars, just different styles) ... think about the forces each must deal with ... then notice "how" each deals with those forces ... and lastly, look at how rugged each is built.

I hope I've provided enough information without it sounding like I'm bashing anyone's product.

By design, The landyot radius bars are probobly the best bar on the planet. I thought Ken's e-mail to me was great He was honest and very up front in telling me they wouldn't work with my lift. I havn't seen the tuff countrry bar. The over the axe bars I built mount level with the truck and do improve the handling with or without the sway bar. If you still have some wander, adjust the steering box. I can even rest my eyes while driving. Thats a scary thought!!!

LANDYOT-
When can I order a set of those Gen II rods? I saw that you are not making them right now.

Thanks

jxm7 -- You have mail, Unfortunately, I am way behind in building this batch, and it looks like I'm still a few weeks away from having any ready.

I bought a set from Whitney to see if they are worth it. I sent them back the same day. I guess you can figure out my opinion.

I got a set from JCW. I didn't want to drill my spring seat, and didn't want to cut the bottom leaf and clamp the spring. So I put them from the sway mount to the frame. All seems well and I am pleased with the results, even though IMO they could use a couple more pounds of steel.

That being said, Ken have you considered going to the hole in the frame flange foward of the front spring seat instead of the spring itself?

Have I considered using that hole in the frame's flange? Yes, but I ruled it out. The first generation of radius-rods (GEN-I) are angled outboard to clamp around the axle tube between the spring-pack and wheel ... and the rod-arm would have to cross under the leaf springs and spring perch to reach that hole in the flange, which could've fouled under full compression of the suspension. Also, such a connection would require two bolts, and a backing plate on top of the flange to "sandwich" the flange. The angles didn't work out, and I didn't wish to add holes in the flange. I've seen single-bolt connections used with some ladder-bars, and a few of those bolts have pulled through the flange ... not a good thing ... and expensive to repair.
