I like to hear from members who have 05 Ex PSD their highway MPG. Recently drove from Illinois to Arizona and was getting mid 15 mpg to low 16 mpg with 3 passengers, 2 dogs and luggages. Is this what others are obtaining with their vehicles or is there something I should be looking into why my mileage is not higher. No modifications except for aftermarket tires (Nitto 305/70 16).

LOT's of variables.... headwinds, topography, speed, tail gating how much snack food the kids bring along...
Did you say you had an 05 Ex with 6.0L and 4x2 or 4x4 ?
the non stock tire size could do a few things:
may be more weight and therefore more rolling inertia,
may be a different diameter and therefore making your odometer off,
our 05 Eddie Bauer 4x4 6.0L gets about 16 or 17 around town....
on the hwy I tend to drive a bit faster than most
so my mpg isn't much above that
but again - I am not that worried about mpg when I can carry everything I want to carry

I drove about 1000 miles round trip last week with 5 passengers from san diego to san jose. I averaged 15.5 mpg. But about 700 miles at 85mph on highway 5. I had gotten as high as 18.5 on the same trip before. I did bring my x to the dealer a month ago for a recall. I think they reprogrammed it to lower emissions. That could explain the lower mpg or maybe I just drove faster this time. My x is stock.

I just acquired an 04 Excursion 4X4 diesel. After I took possess I had a 400 mile run back to my home. I ran between 90 and 100 mph the whole way back and got about 10 mpg. Next week I'm having a Banks Six-Gun Pack installed. Can anyone out there validate Banks' claim that it will raise the mpg 4-6? |

I can't verify that the mileage is better with the 6 Gun [even though the mileage guesser in the ceiling says it's as good or better] because I'm still having too much fun with it. I usually leave it set at level 4.

I know that on level highway non towing in 60hp program with the SCMT we can hold down 19-21+ mpg at 60-65 mph but that may be way too slow for some of ya'll
Most programmers/switch chips can benny 1-3 mpg better results but having an upgraded intake and exhaust helps alot.
