Hi all,
I'm a new guy around here and I'm looking to purchase a 2wd X and was wondering what the true weight of a 2wd model with a V-10 engine is? I just read some article mentioning that an X weigths 8000# this can't be right can it? maybe that was a 4wd with couple of people in it?
anyone around here here install a turbocharger on a V-10?
Thanks for any info!

First, WELCOME to the X-Files!
Second, yes, the 4WD models do weigh around 8000# ... and that's empty. My guess would be that the 2WD models are around 7200# to 7500#. I haven't viewed the spec's for the 2WD weights. |

Welcome Dave...
YES, the 4x4 "deezle" does come in as "heavyweight" given the extra mass of the diesel...
with the 4x2 and v-10 being the svelte members of the family....
but they need to be to protect my family and handle the mass tht it can move
haven't heard of a turbon on a v-10, but have heard of a supercharger
and can imagine how sweet that sounds coming from a school bus !!!
My nephew has a supercharged lightning that sounds SO sweet when it spools up !!!!

My 05 2wd V10 has a registered weight of 6680lbs.
My state bases registration costs on weight so I would imagine that to be fairly accurate but as to dry or wet weight I wouldn't know.
You can figure on adding approx 400lbs for the transfer case and front axle. And an additional 400lbs. for the added wieght of the PSD. (over the V10)
A PSD 4x4 weighs approx 800lbs. more than a 2wd V10.
