Folks,
At http://www.supermotors.net/forums/thid-5910-2001-excursion-vent-windows#31582 a forum member ronbus1 started up a thrad entitled "2001 Excursion vent windows" last year and never got a reply. I have had the same issue and am going to search this forum and see if I can find another source for the answer and see if there is any discussion of it. If one of the moderators could merge the thread into this one it seems most appropriate to have it here in the Excursion generic discussion area. I'll also send ronbus1 a note and point him to this post to hopefully get him started toward his answer. Just in case his preferences don't allow members to contact him if a moderator might like to do the same I'm sure he would appreciate it.
Regards,
Phil |

Mine has been spotty when it is cold. Now that I have a new motor for the left side in hand, the motors are scared of being replaced and seem to work fine.

Sounds like the motor has gotten thermally sensitive. The cause for that is heat breakdown of the insulation on the motor widings, for example. Other causes could be a connector that bends out of place when hot and expanded, and breaks the electrical contact. I have seen one common spray lubricant that has different dielectric properties between normal and hot temperatures, so even the wrong lubricant can come into play. |

Mine were sticking during the hot and cold and it turned out that the rubber seal was stuck to the glass.
I brought to the dealer and they applied rubber silicone tratment to the rubber seal and now it works all the time, hot or cold.

I believe the owner's manual specifies lubricating those window gaskets, along with all of the door weatherstripping, every 6K miles. It's the only time I use Armorall ... just dampen a rag, and wipe the rubber. Lemon Pledge will work, too since it has a lot of silicone in it. |

My 02 has had a problem with the rear windows for some time. It does not matter if it is hot or cold out. They are not stuck to the gasket either. Sometimes one works and the other does not. It does not matter which. Sometimes both do not work and sometimes they both work. When they will not open I can hear a click coming from the back. So there is power back there and some component is not doing its job. When they do work the motors sound fine. If they do open I will not leave them open for fear they will not close when I need them to.

GOT8KIDS,
Yeah, that's more like ours. I've siliconed the seals and haven't concluded that it really makes any real difference. It may be worse when they're hot, but that too doesn't really seem to be the key...
We've found that if we go back and forth on the switches (rocking them to the open and then the closed position) when they're acting up, that oftentimes will get the windows to suddenly come open.
I'm really thinking there's something up with some sort of inconsistent relay, probably heat induced, but I was hoping someone with some magic bullet might chime in. Hopefully someone still will.
