I have an 02 Ex Limited with second row bucket seats. Has anyone installed Capt. chairs in the second row that match the front seats? I thought it would be great to have four, heated, power Capt. chairs in my truck. The stock second row seats have low backs and are not very supportive. I am not sure how to locate a matching set other than a junk yard and or wrecked Excursion. There used to be an Excursion in my area that was converted into a limo (not stretched). This thing had six captains chairs in it! I did not know how to contact the owner and it was eventually sold.
Also, has anyone fixed the problem with the third row bench seat not having any head rests? It may be too difficult to build head rest frames into the stock seat so perhaps there are aftermarket seats??

Yep...

Second row is the same as the 1st. Ordered a set of front buckets to match the front. Made brackets to mount them on.

It allows more leg room then the standard factory quad seating.

Here's the bracket.

Thanks Bill
May I ask where you got the front seats? From the Ford Dealer? How much did they cost?

I got mine from the dealer, I would look around before going back there. I know expy, 150, 250, and econoline seats will work. I would look at a local wreaking yard if I had to do it again. I know you can recover a seat from the dealer for about 300 bucks a seat

Bill,
Thanks for the response. It looks like you have done some big time sound proofing inside your Ex.
What is the best product to use and what are the most important areas to cover? I have heard that "Dynamat" smells like road tar when it gets hot on the floor areas.

I used Fort-o-flash. it's a general roofing and window peel and seal type of product. Super easy to install and super cheap to get.

IMO it's just as good as any of the Dynamats. I've used just about all of them in my time and have found the cheap stuff is just as good in this case.

What dealer did you get them from and do you remember the cost? I just bought a 2000 ford excursion yesterday and want the captains chairs in the 2nd row. Also the mechanic that did the pre-purchase inspection says the seat heaters aren't working because the elements need to be replaced. Kind of weird that both need to be replaced at the same time (both front seats that is). It is more expensive to replace them to buy salvaged ones or new ones I am afraid.

I also noticed the road noise driving home yesterday. How do you install the soundproofing? Just lift up the carpet and put it down then lay the carpet back? My husband is going to be a busy man!

When I bought my truck, the 2nd row was already done. I know it became an option in I want to say 02. So you can either do a custom setup like mine is or find a salvage yard to find the oem 2nd row.

as far as sound proofing goes, There are a ton of different ways to go about it.

I strongly suggest looking into the Second Skin product. I redid my truck awhile back and I can not even begin to tell you how happy I am with the product as well as how quiet my truck is.

You can look over my full install log here . http://secondskinaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6061 And if you do decide to go with their products then please tell them I sent ya

Thanks for the info. I know that 2002 models could order the 2nd row chairs - but I've heard they are shorter than the front ones. I like the idea of putting heated / electric seats in the 2nd row as well. Is this what you did?
