OK, I gotta take the plunge and get me a set of new springs. I tow a 8K trailer and it squats with 44 gallons of Diesel, gear, etc. I even have Timbren load boosters, which help some, but I need another inch or so.
I thought of adding just a leaf under the rear springs, then I ran over a set of railroad tracks with the loaded truck/trailer combo, and when the front end hit the rails, I damn near lost my teeth...
So, I'm opting for new springs all around. V fronts, U in the back. Does that sound like what is right for me? I'm looking for the minimal amount of lift since I have to park in a parking garage with 7' clearance at work...
The local ford dealer will install them for me for 3 hours labor and the cost of a 4WD alignment, which is ~ 400 not counting the springs.
The problem is that the ford dealer is looking in their "parts book" and say there are no springs to change for the EX. I told them that I want the ones for a F250, but they don't know what I am talking about.
Can you guys tell me the exact part numbers to look up? I assume that they can use the PNs for the U bolt and nuts for the excursion, just need PNs for the F250 springs in question.
Thanks.

Bandit,
You can use V on the front. U is also a front spring code. F's can be used on the rear.
The V code is slightly stouter than the U. Lift for the V will range from 1.5 - 1.75 inches.
U will give 1.25 inches. F will give 0.75 to 1 inch. For towing you could add the old anitwrap leaf to the rear but cut down. This will give 1.5 extra to the rear.
Here are some part numbers:
V (2C3Z-5310-HA)
U (2C3Z-5310-GA)
F (6C3Z-5560-F) Found on rear on F-250's 06 and up. No overhead helper.
U-BOLTS FRONT F81Z-5705-ZA NUTS N805480-S426
U-BOLTS REAR -N804420-S436 NUTS -N620485-S441
Currently adding U's and F's to my 03 7.3. My parts came to $587 before tax. Should have back next day or two.

Thanks Ken,
I had the springs installed and overall happy with the upgrade. It may need a longer shock up front which I did on my old Ex. with the U codes. |
