I live just outside of Houston and am seriously thinking of switching over to Bio Diesel.
But how will it effect my emmisions for the State emissions test. I am due for one in April and don't want to have any trouble passing.
I really like this site, it has answered a lot of my questions. I now fill up at a local truck stop because I can get the 500ppm at the pump.
I guess I have one more question as well. My closest Bio dealer has B100. Does anyone have experience running it? I see people talk about the B20. But what about the pure stuff?

I would have thought that the LSD (500 ppm) stuff would have gone out especially at truck stops. In any case, they should be sooner or later. I have filled up with ULSD and not noticed much of a change.
Also with B100, that is the pure stuff. So, I splash mixed some into the tank before up to B40 and lost mileage. B20 is a push.

State emissions test for Diesels in Texas? Nope only Gasoline Powered vehicles get smog checked.
Running B100 in a 6.0L I'd recommend against for I personally don't know anyone running it in a 6.0L now B20 I'd say go ahead and run with as it'll be much more fluid and friendly on the sensitive fuel injection system.
Ford says a maximum of B5 but that's to protect their hind quarters.

Thanks for all the good advise.

Been running B20-B50 for 18months. I did run B99.9 for a while but stopped only because my fuel pump failed while towing. It might be completely un related but it was about the time I was using very high concentrations of Biodiesel.
Brought it in under warranty and was told the fuel pressure was low. They fixed it while my 'powered by biodiesel' license plate was in plain view.
I have a 275 gallon UN tote in my gargage and bought a biodiesel compatable 12V pump and I am accepting my 3rd delivery of Biodiesel from Sun Coast refineries tomorrow morning.

Bio Questions...trying to get smart on this technolgy...here is what I understand so far:
2004 EB Excurison 6.0L
I can buy bio with only about a 20 cent/gal savings.
I can set up the system to cook up the oil from restaruants and modify my truck.
I can use the product in this link: http://www.dieselsecret.com/index.html
without mods or cookers. Just have to filer the WVO, add the chemical and put it in the tank.
This sounds almost too good to be true so I was wondering if anyone out there is using this system and would they recommend it. I could save more than $200 per month on gas. I'd get rid of my regular gas car and go with a diesel VW or pickup if this is a viable option. I live in South Florida so temps are not too much of an issue.
Any thoughs, comments, corrections or links would be appreciated.
Thanks,
XOwner

As somewhat an experienced Bio Diesel and WVO user,Stay away from the Diesel Secret stuff.
I have several friends that fill their 6.0L Diesels with B20 BioDiesel with no runability issues.

Bill,
Your knowledge and insight has saved many of us THOUSANDS!
Why do you recommend that we stay away from the Diesel Secret stuff?
Call me Curious George, but this interests me, BUT and a very big one at that…. I cannot destroy my X with my curiosity.
Thank you for your reply.

I have a 6.0L and really have not noticed a big difference in performance with the ULSD. Is the 6.0L designed different, or am I just not perseptive?
I try to fill up at a local truck stop that has the 500PPM for the lubrication factor, but it is not always convenient.
Obviously I want my X to run for ever, so I am always interested to here about alternatives to ULSD.
