Hey guys, I just installed the Firestone Ride-Rite air bags in my 05 X. I have been keeping an eye on the air pressure to make sure it stays above 5PSI. But I seem to be loosing a few pounds of pressure each day. I am thinking some of the lose is due to the fact that I keep checking it since some air escapes every time I check it.

Those that have air bags, do you notice any air pressure loss? I have checked the lines for leaks and I even tightened up the valve that goes in the air bags. I just can't locate any other reason for the pressure loss.

Thanks,

I notice very little pressure loss, and the pressure that it does loose is similar to the pressure that a tire looses. BTW, I'm running 20lbs unloaded.

I use a sprayer bottle filled with water and a teaspoon of baby shampoo mixed in then spray on the air pressure line connections to reveal the leak/s.

Does that seem a bit stiff? I like the extra stability the air bags provide to the rear end but it really seems to get bouncy back there at the higher PSI. I keep the pressure down between 10 - 5 PSI and that seems to help.

Thanks for the input

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. I checked it this morning and it looks like tightening the valve in the air bag may have done the trick. If not, I will try your suggestion.

Thanks for the tip!

Actually, I found her to be more bouncy at 5 to 10lbs, than at 20lbs, where she's feels more solid and secure. In the back, she's also got Ken's Radius bars, a Hellwig sway bar and Edlebrock shocks. Tires are Yokohama Geolanders - 285-75/16 - Load Range D - filled to 60lbs on all fours.
