2001 Excursion 8" lift with Computer Programer, Intake, Exhaust, Gears an 37x13.50x18 tires.
When I stomp on the gas and it downshifts from 2nd to 1st then builds up rpms in 1st as it shifts back into 2nd I hear a screetch from the transmission? Is it normal for something to be slipping in there when romping on the gas like that? Oh and it has the V10 with 114772 miles on it.
Also I noticed this happening 4 times over the past 2 years. When I get on the brakes while 4 wheeling at low speed or today slamming on them at high speed to avoid a collision. I am getting a whistle noise sound from maybe under the dash. It will do it everytime for a short period after when applying more than normal pressure to the pedal.
Feels wierd in the pedal when that happens to. Doesnt loose pressure but feels like the truck doesnt want to stop when the noise is present. Like maybe the pedal stiffins up some then back to normal after!!!!
Any ideas or trouble shooting tips???? |

Check your belt &/or tensioner. It sounds more like a belt problem than a tranny one.
If the belt is okay then it may be your tuner. This is common on some trucks that use a tuner. I know my F-150 would squeal like that in the very situation you describe. I had to make adjustments to my first to second gear shift points and pressure to make it go away.

Any ideas or trouble shooting tips???? | Sure it isn't the ABS activating?

Leaf springs and ABS would be the answer to your second question and it is normal. |
