Eh guys i want to pick your brains a bit. I cannot shift my x into reverse unless i jam the brake peddle as far down as possible?.I also had too pull the fuse for the interior lights they will not shut off.after turning the key off and removing it, the sterring wheel does not lock? All this happened on saturday after my WIFE used the x too take the kids tobogening.I talked with a local mech, he suggested i start by replacing the brake light switch under the dash. I bought 1 today and am going to install it tomorrow, any help or suggestings would be appricated. sorry about the spelling and bad grammer i hate typing . ty in advance. |

Perhaps the truck requires a new brake light switch? I believe the transmission is permitted to come out of gear when the brake switch is activated.
Perhaps the cable is out of adjustment or damaged at the side of the transmission?

Guess you could test the switch and when it activates by having someone press on the brake while you watch the lights.
I don't think there is a gear shift "block". You can shift into reverse or whatever without your foot on the brake.
The interior lights require WD-40 or similar in all the latches to free up the mechanism.
The lack of steering lock doesn't seem related to the other problems you listed. You have to move the wheel left or right to get it to lock.

Cool! I'm gonna have to "test" mine. I didn't think there was a safety interlock.
