Hey everyone!
I bought a '05 excursion new & it is about time to replace the tires. I'd like to go up to a 17 or 18" wheel with some bigger tires. I have found a limited offering in the new aftermarket dept aside of radical looking wheels & I don't want to get crazy here. I saw a picture of "monsta's" Excursion with some cool wheels. I have also seen alot of choices in the F250/350 truck wheels. There are alot of new/take offs on ebay from the trucks that look good. Would these fit an 05 Excursion?
Thanks!
Great looking site!

HI. yes you can use rims from all the 99 and newer 8 lug pattern from the F250s and F350s, this is because they are the same suspension as the Excursion, so go back and find that wheel and tire package that you love, and get them on that rig.. post pics...

It really is all about size!!!!!!

Thanks Brian!!!!
That is exactly what I was looking for. I don't know why the aftermarket companies list wheels that fit the f250/350 but not Excursion
I'll get some pictures up soon. My Ex is all black, limited edition with the big, thirsty gas engine. I'm kinda glad I don't have the diesel with prices lately. My boat's diesel tanks are taking care of my spare cash these days.

Don't be so happy about the gasoline engine. Diesel fuel around me in NJ is only about 12% more expensive than regular gasoline but each gallon of diesel conatins 30% more energy, plus the pumping losses on a diesel are much less than a gas engine since there is no throttle...engine speed and power is strictly governed by the amount of fuel going in.

So even with my heavy Excursion and the older 7.3L Turbo-diesel, I get 15-18 mpg. I would wager that is significantly better than any of the gas power versions....certainly better than the V-10 ones of folks I know who get 7-10 mpg.

The diesels are also twoing monsters and can pretty much tow whatever you want to pull.

We don't need gas vs diesel posts on threads that don't pertain to that. FWIW, to clear up misconceptions, V10's that get 7-10 are usually pulling 7,000lbs or more behind them or they're broken.

Okay....'bout the wheels... 05+ Super Duty wheels will work but adapters are needed. The backspacing on the wheels is different, hence the need for adapter. I have 20" OEM wheels from an 08 F350 and use 2" spacers/adapters from wheeladapters.com. At $150 each you have to REALLY want to run 05+ OEM wheels or get a REALLY good deal on them.

05+ Super Dutys (not Excursions mind you) have a COMPLETELY different front suspension than the Excursion and 99-04 Super Dutys.

Thanks Monsta! That is the tech info I needed.
I'm finding some new after market wheels on ebay which look great! The ones I REALLY like are there but they only come in 18". They are called " Ford Racing SVT"
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD-RACING-SVT-F250-F350-EXCURSION-RIMS-WHEELS-TIRES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ66484QQihZ015QQitemZ250284425097QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
They are simple but custom looking. Any suggestions on tire size? I live in CT so I get snow, ice, rain & blistering heat!

ps
My wife, kids and I just returned from an awsome road trip (700 mi each way) up to the lakes in Muskoka Canada via Niagra Falls. We had the Limited Ex packed to the hilt & it was a pleasure to drive. We made it from Greenwich, CT to Niagra (tons of stop & go traffic last Friday) on one tank of gas (440+- miles). I wasn't exactly on empty so I figure about 11mpg At least I enjoied the ride

I like those wheels. They were my #2 choice! Cool thing about those is that you don't need spacers. They just bolt right up.
