Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to quickly introduce myself. I have an '02 Ex V10 Limited that I bought in Florida on vacation last year. My history with Ex's has been pretty good though, my parents and I test drove one back in '99 when they first came out, but didn't buy one. Then, our good friends bought a '02 Limited PSD and after a while of going places with them, I knew I loved them. So, my mom's lease was up on her Mountaineer, and we went stopped by a dealer to just get a look around and see if we could have the ABS sensor problem taken care of. We looked around and they had a few '06 Expy's (this was the Friday before Labor Day, '05), and two '05 Ex's left (both V10). One Ex was a Limited and one was a XLT. We never expected it, but left with the Limited as the dealer agreed to take care of the remaining 6 months of the lease (which we were almost up on the miles anyway).
My appreciation for Ex's really grew from here. It's a Mineral Gray Limited with the Medium Pebble interior, captain chairs, DVD system, pretty much everything except the diesel unfortunately. While the V10 is great, it still doesn't sound like a diesel! I've done a few upgrades to it, including a chrome bumper and grill (non-billet) due to a minor accident, SD chrome mirror covers, and a full Air-Lift air bag system, which we hoped would help the ride some, as well as help with heavy trailers. Recently, we've also had to have the hitch reinforced, because the tongue weight of my dad's toy hauler is too much for the little hitch. A local company did the job, and it's wonderful. I've yet to tow the toy hauler with it, but I suspect is should do good. We did have it upgraded to a 2.5" receiver tube, plus some other reinforcing that makes the blockerbeam design look weak. I have plenty of pics if anyone is interested.
Then came time for my first car, and I knew I wanted an Ex. I have my own travel trailer, and while I now have a different one that a year ago, I needed to have some capacity to haul. I didn't want to deal with a bed on a SD, so the Ex seemed like the best fit. My ultimate goal was to find an '02 diesel (7.3!!!), and I did find one with 32k on it, but it was too much $. We ended up finding a great deal on an '02 while on vacation in Florida in April of '07, so we cancelled our plane tickets, changed the oil and checked fluids, etc., in my Grandpa's garage, and drove it home. It performed flawlessly. The only downside is it has the '99 (SD), '00-'01 headlights with the amber corners instead of clear. But, I've since added the new style chrome towing mirrors (since it came with paddles), OH cab lights, K&N (to both actually), and a few other things I'm sure I'm forgetting about.
I've been following this site for at least two years now off and on, and it's my first stop when looking for advise online. I just haven't joined until now. Here's a few pics of both of them:

On edit, I now remember I put the Putco chrome door handle covers on both (though the '05 pic is a little old), and V10 labels (I know they are actually the E-series ones) on both. |

Welcome. Thanks for sharing the pics... I especially like the clean lines of the chrome front bumper on the 05. Man oh man... Harley Headlights on the 05 would make the chrome on the front "pop" out!!
Keep Mod'n!!!!
