I am looking to purchase a 2005 silver excursion XLT. It does not have the gray body cladding on the lower rocker panels. This excursion also has the chrome ford running boards/side steps. I was under the impression they all came with body cladding? Can anyone help with this information? The truck doesn't look bad, only a little plain. Since this truck does not have the body cladding can I still purchase it from Ford? Any help on this would be great. |

First things first .... WELCOME to the X-Files!
The XLT & XLS Excursions came with base model trim packages, and did not include the lower cladding panels. Gray? I thought they were all "Arizona Beige" in color? The chrome tubular running boards were an optional upgrade over the lighted running boards on the XLT, Limited and Eddie Bauer models.
You may find it easier (and possibly less expensive) to locate a used 2005 Ltd or EB model which already has the cladding AND several other extras. You may also find it interesting to hear that some X owners have removed their cladding because they prefer a more clean appearance. |

Thanks Landyot. Is there an aftermarket distributor for the cladding or would I buy it at Ford? (if its is still available?) This way I would have the option to put it on n the future.
I believe the cladding is dark grey on the XLT and beige on the EDDIE BAUER based on looking at all vehicle for sale on line. Very few did not have the cladding. Actually in surfing the web I could only find 3 trucks without the cladding, which is why I posted.
Also where can I get info on your suspension parts?
Thanks |

I admit I was wrong. I went back & looked at my 2005 brochure and it says: "Lower bodyside moldings - Medium Platinum on XLT, Arizona Beige on Eddie Bauer, body-color with chrome inserts on Limited (includes wheel-lip moldings on Eddie Bauer and Limited)" The way I read the brochure, all XLT models should have come with the gray lower moldings. I can't find any description of when they weren't included. You'll have to ask a dealer if they're still available ... I don't know. If an aftermarket company offers body cladding for the X, I am not aware of it.
Click my username and send me an e-mail (not a PM), and I can reply with info on the radius-rods. |

The XLT and The XLS were available without the cladding in the 00 through 03 years. There was the "Value XLT", and the "Base Model :XLS" that did not have cladding.

the cladding rubs through the paint after a while, not good for the paint at all! Mine is long gone. Now I have long gouges and chips where the edges of the plastic touched the paint. |
