285's will fit and clear.
Some run even 305's with no problem. I think it is a brand thing though.
What is you other question concerning? Do you want to know if they'll fit your Excursion or it you need them to help the tire clear? If the latter, you do not but they never can hurt. If the former, then yes.

Thanks Ken. You answered both of my questions. I think I'll go with the 285's and put the superduty springs on for the level look! |

My 285s rub the hard plastic mud guards a little. I removed the guards and trimmed them some, and now it only rubs if the conditions are just right (articulation, steep drives at an angle, etc.). If I were to do it over again, I might stick with the 265 size. There is not much difference, and the 285s do look better, but I don't particularly like the rubbing, even if only occasionally.
Actually, if I had the chance (and money) I would buy a 2x4 PSD. I don't need 4x4, and I do covet the mileage the diesels get. I just got a real good deal on the V10 4x4.
As for the front springs, I would love to do that, but I just can't justify that mod right now. Besides, I don't think the stock ride is that bad.
